About Legacy Volleyball Club
Though the Legacy name is fairly new to Michigan, its founders and coaches have established themselves throughout the state and mid-west with pride and distinction. Their teams have appeared at USA Volleyball Junior Olympic National Championships as well as top finishes in high school, NCAA, and other USA Volleyball events throughout the state and across the mid-west. From the beginning, we have limited the number of teams in our club, so that we can provide our players with a unique experience that includes the area’s top coaches, a positive atmosphere, proven philosophies in training, all while competing at the highest levels. Though we can’t guarantee how any team will finish, we can guarantee our players will receive high-level training based on how collegiate and national teams are training their players. Our goal is to create a fun and encouraging atmosphere for our players and families all while learning the fundamentals of the game.
2008 was a banner year for Legacy VBC. Four teams qualified for the USA Volleyball Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships in Dallas, TX. Several teams were successful at their respective tournaments. We are excited to build on the success created. We hope you will be joining us.
Legacy Volleyball Club is a member of USA Volleyball, AAU, and the JVDA (Junior Volleyball Director's Association). Legacy VBC was formed through the merger of WOW Volleyball Club and Oakland Jrs. Volleyball Club. Legacy VBC began its first season of USA Volleyball competition in the spring of 2007.
The name "LEGACY" was chosen for several reason. The term “LEGACY” has a different meaning for everyone involved in our club. As you get to know our staff you will begin to realize each members understanding of the word “LEGACY”. Legacy Volleyball Club is organized by a unique board of directors which include:
Loretta Vogel
Bryan Lindstrom
Eric Lindstrom
Andrew Thompson
Erin Miller
WOW Volleyball Club (formerly V.I.P. Volleyball Club and MVP Volleyball Club) began in 1999 with one team. WOW VBC grew to more than 18 teams by 2005. 2005 was a milestone year when WOW qualified 2 teams for the USA Volleyball Junior Olympic National Championships in Salt Lake City, UT. All 10 athletes of the original class of WOW earned volleyball scholarships to various universities including: University of Michigan, Yale University, Oakland University, Hillsdale College, and Saginaw Valley State University. WOW Volleyball Club was organized and run by Loretta Vogel. Loretta Vogel was also the founder and club director of V.I.P. Volleyball Club and M.V.P. Volleyball Club.
Oakland Jrs. Volleyball Club began in 1981, originally Walled Lake Jrs. Oakland Jrs. was founded by Mike Lindstrom (Mr. L) to provide volleyball opportunities to young athletes in Oakland County. Mike Lindstrom was the head coach at Walled Lake Central High School.
